Seoul, Korea, August 2024 Photo 1

Seogwipo-si Waterfall, Jeju Island. On my vacation right before my 1L year at USF School of Law, I took a trip to Korea partially to explore (Jeju Island), and partially to bring supplies to and tour the hospitals and shelters of local animal rescues that the US-based rescue agency I foster dogs for, Love and Second Chances, partners with. Here I am at Royal Veterinary Hospital in Seoul with W.E.A.C.T. Rescue Staff and one of their patients who was rescued and recovering from an abusive situation. I was accepted to USF as an Animal Law scholar, and hope to use my law degree to advance environmental and animal justice.

Japan

The flowing spring speaks to nature's universal language, a place where all can gather in quiet awe. Across borders, we share this same reverence, united by earth's raw beauty and timeless rhythm. I remember the anticipation leading up to taking this picture. I was with my host family in Japan, and we were waiting by this spring for what felt like all day. We saw people leave and go, others waiting like us but eventually leaving. My family began to leave too until the spring finally started. We came back and so many people were there for this time-sensitive moment. My host mom went to get people from the store to look at it with us and we all audible gasped. I was in a completely different country with people who didn't look like me, thought like me, or sounded like me, yet we all shared a nice moment of appreciating the beauty of nature. I feel I enjoyed it at the right time, with the right people.

Oberägeri⁩, ⁨Canton of Zug⁩, ⁨Switzerland⁩, April 2024

Shot on 35mm film & scanned at home, I took this photo of me on a swing using self-timer. While spending a weekend in Zürich, my friends and I took a train through sprawling green hills to an area called Mostelberg. We were hoping to take a gondola to the top of this mountain, but upon arrival, found the gondola was closed for the day. Nevertheless, we decided to hike an hour up the steep hill to discover a playground! It was definitely a journey, but the view from the top was completely worth it.

Nice⁩, ⁨French Riviera⁩, ⁨France, April 2024

Shot on 35mm film & scanned at home, I took this photo while spending a weekend in Nice and Monaco. I stumbled upon this outdoor market where a man sat whittling an object he would later vend.

Cape Town, South Africa, January 2023

In 2023 I was blessed to receive the opportunity to travel to South Africa along with 10 other peers from my high school, to engage in acts of service within underserved communities within Cape Town and Johannesburg. While I was not originally close with many of my peers, through our lang and hard days working together we grew bonds with each other that can never be broken, and I will forever have the country and the people of South Africa to thank for that.

Cherrapunji, Meghalaya, India, June 2024

For my birthday, my family and I went on an unforgettable journey to one of the most remote places in India. Reaching the Seven Sisters Waterfall was an adventure in itself—it took two flights, 13 hours of driving, and the perfect timing with the weather, as clouds can roll in within seconds there. Located in the rainiest place on Earth, the waterfall offered us a rare, breathtaking view, making the effort entirely worth it.

Efficient hat salesmen stack their hats on top of their head to make carrying easier (or maybe just as a display of neck strength, who's to say).
