The Office of Institutional Research and Analytics (OIRA) supports internal decision-making, strategic planning, and external accountability through data collection, analysis, and reporting on enrollment, retention, graduation, faculty and staff, and academic programs. Key internal (e.g. census: fall/spring) and external (e.g. IPEDS, U.S. News and World Report, Carnegie Classification) cycles are driven by coordination of a reporting infrastructure built to streamline longitudinal analyses and consistent and accurate reporting. In addition, OIRA provides customized research and data visualization through Tableau to support academic planning, resource allocation, and student success initiatives.
Recent and ongoing efforts include: Enrollment and Admissions Reporting: Real-time, year-over-year trends, and census reporting at the university, college, and program levels.
- Student Outcomes: OIRA leverages National Student Clearinghouse and Lightcast data to provide insight into career trajectories, educational attainment, and labor market outcomes through interactive dashboards and reports.
- Student Retention and Persistence Analysis: OIRA provides both live and historical data on student retention and persistence. Current projects include the development of a predictive model designed to estimate a student’s likelihood of being retained, enabling earlier identification and targeted support for those at higher risk.
- Survey and Program Analysis: Analysis, reporting, and implementation support for the New Student Success Survey to uncover early signals impacting student belonging, confidence, and retention. Support for academic program reviews, and retention-focused research.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: As a neutral bridge between operational units, OIRA joins data across systems (e.g., HR, Finance, Student) to answer institution-wide questions and support leadership decision-making.
- Course and Faculty Data Integration: Merging Banner and Workday data to track faculty workload, course coverage, and instructional efficiency
- Ad Hoc and Long-Term Reporting: Through the DataAssist request system and ongoing dashboard development, OIRA provides both one-time data pulls and customized Tableau reports that support ongoing operational insight and decision-making.
