Please join us in celebrating disability pride, visibility and awareness at USF. All events are open to the entire USF community.


CANCELED: A Conversation with Finnegan Shannon

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Finnegan Shannon will be unable to join us for Disability Awareness Week 2024. Therefore the accessibility statement writing workshop, speaking event and reception on Tuesday 3/26 will be canceled. Thank you for your understanding.

Disability Awareness Display in Gleeson Library

Throughout the month of March, we invite you to check out the Disability Awareness display in Gleeson library, showcasing resources on disability history, culture and identity that are available in the library’s collections. Please also check out the Disability Resource Guide on the library website for further reading!

Monday, March 25th

Disability Resource Fair - 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM - Gleeson Plaza 

Join us to learn about many of the disability-related resources we have available on campus and in the SF community. We will have food, prizes, and a chance to build community! 

SDS & Office of Residential Life Crip Camp Film Screening & Discussion - 5:00 to 8:00 PM - Toler Lounge

In partnership with the office of Residential Life, please join us in a full-length film screening of Crip Camp, a 2020 film about Camp Jened in 1971 and its alumni’s involvement in the Disability Rights Movement. This event is open to all USF students, on- and off-campus residents. The film will be followed by a discussion and food will be provided! 


Tuesday, March 26th

Executive Functioning Workshop with the Learning, Writing and Speaking Center - 11:50 AM to 12:50 PM - UC 503

Come to this one-hour workshop to build skills related to executive functioning, organization and academic success. If you tend to have challenges with homework, studying, meeting deadlines, or staying on-task, this event is for you! All are welcome, no registration required. 

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Faculty Workshop - 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM - Cowell 212 and Online via Zoom

The Working Group on Universal Access (WGUA) invites you to a training on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in celebration of Disability Awareness Week 2024. UDL employs multiple means of engagement, representation, and action and expression in order to foster inclusive learning environments where students of all abilities can thrive. We will be hosting a one-hour lunchtime training during Disability Awareness Week to discuss the basics of UDL and how you can incorporate it into your classrooms. All USF faculty are welcome! Lunch will be provided for those attending in person. RSVP to attend

Exploring Disability Activity - 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM - Cowell 418

 Join Graduate Disability Pride Group members as they lead participants through interactive activities designed to expose them to various aspects of the lived experience of people with disabilities and promote conversations about disability identity. 


Wednesday, March 27th

Mural & Mixer - 3:00 to 5:00 PM - Intercultural Center (UC 411/412)

Join the Disabled Student Union in creating a mural for the Student Disability Services office! It will be a unique opportunity to make a lasting mark on the school and learn about the disability rights movement through art. Anyone curious about the movement is welcome.


Thursday, March 28th

Disability Art Exhibit - 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM in Kalmanovitz Atrium

Please come by to view a gallery of student-created artwork centered around the theme of disability in education. If you are interested in submitting a piece for inclusion in the exhibit, please email Alisha Hodges (ahodges3@usfca.edu) by Wednesday 3/20 for details.
