Our Student Awards

Stanley D. Nel Award for Academic Excellence in Environmental Science

In recognition of the graduating Environmental Science senior who has exhibited the highest academic achievement in major coursework during their USF career. This award is named in honor of Vice President for International Relations, Stanley D. Nel, who created the Department of Environmental Science when serving as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. 

The Environmental Science First-Year Student Award for Academic Excellence

In recognition of the first-year Environmental Science student who exhibited the greatest potential for success in major coursework. 

The R. James Brown Award for the Outstanding Environmental Science Student

In recognition of the graduating Environmental Science senior who has exhibited high academic standards and a strong commitment to the practice of the field over the course of their USF career. This award is named in honor of professor emeritus R. James Brown, who was instrumental in the establishment of the undergraduate Environmental Science program at USF and served as the first Chair of the Department of Environmental Science.
