Requesting a PLUS Loan Adjustment

Need to request an increase or decrease to the amount of Parent or Graduate PLUS Loan? The following steps provides a guide on how you may submit the request to the Financial Aid Office. PLUS Loan credit decisions are valid for 180 days. A new credit check will be ran if the last credit check was more than 180 days.

Parent PLUS Loan

  • If you are requesting to increase the Parent PLUS Loan amount borrowed, you will need to submit a new Parent PLUS Loan application on StudentAid.gov. If the loan was approved via an endorser or appeal option, a new endorser addendum or appeal will be needed.
  • If you are requesting to decrease the loan amount borrowed, you may email your request to the Office of Financial Aid using your parent email address on file and specify the amount you are requesting to decrease. Alternatively, a signed letter from the parent with the request is also acceptable. Please be sure to include student's information including full name and USF student ID number.
  • If you are requesting to cancel the Parent PLUS Loan borrowed, you may email your request to the Office of Financial Aid using your parent email address on file and specify the semester(s) you are requesting to cancel the PLUS Loan for. Alternatively, a signed letter from the parent with the request is also acceptable. Please be sure to include student's information including full name and USF student ID number.

Graduate PLUS Loan

You may submit a Financial Aid Adjustment form to request an increase or decrease to the Graduate PLUS Loan amount. You may also use this form to cancel a PLUS Loan. If your loan was approved via an endorser or appeal option, a new PLUS Loan application and new endorser addendum or appeal will be needed.
