Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) Leader Requirements/Pay Information

  1. Completion of General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry courses at USF with a grade of A- or higher

  2. Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above

  3. Earn a term GPA of 3.0 or higher each semester

  4. Maintain full-time enrollment at USF (12 credits or above)

  5. Enroll in INTD 057: PLTL Leadership Training (1 credit hour). Course meets Mondays from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

  6. Lead one section of PLTL Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

  7. Earn $19.25/hr. Leaders receive payment for two hours of workshop facilitation, and one hour of workshop planning. Leaders earn one elective credit for their participation in INTD 057.

PLTL Leader Responsibilities

  1. Prepare/Conduct PLTL sessions

  2. Attend the PLTL Training Course

  3. Develop student academic skills/strategies

  4. Consult students on chemistry problems

  5. Work with small groups

  6. Participate in Learning Center Events (encouraged)

  7. Be a model student

  8. Keep records of sessions

  9. Prepare engaging activities for each session

  10. Seek formal/informal feedback from students

  11. Do not give answers to questions (guide, do not teach)
