Dear Students,
I hope this message finds you well and you are settling into the fall semester.
Thanks to each of you for doing your part to help keep our community healthy and safe while we navigate the ongoing pandemic. The university is continuing to monitor local and national health trends, and remains committed to emphasizing the importance of healthy and safe practices by all members of the USF community.
Healthy Practices
- Continue to monitor for symptoms and submit your daily Don’s Health Check or submit symptoms directly to covidtracing@usfca.edu
- Wash your hands
- Wear face coverings while indoors on campus, at outdoor campus events, and when out in the community
- Limit large group settings whenever possible
- Stay home when sick
- Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth
- Utilize hand sanitizer stands around campus
- Get your flu shot at the HPS Fall Health Fair
Travel
As we approach fall break and the Thanksgiving holiday, it is important to keep in mind that part of your duty and responsibility is practicing healthy and safe behaviors while on campus and while away. I know these breaks are a time to rest and recharge in the middle of the semester, and I hope you will find opportunities to do so.
However, with the risk of COVID-19 infection still high, if you do not need to travel for these breaks, please stay local. If you must travel, take extra precautions with your safety and ensure you are following the above healthy practices. Please also note that there may be additional quarantine expectations upon your return based upon guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and the San Francisco Department of Public Health. The university will provide updated information as each break nears. Negative COVID-19 tests may be required prior to moving back into the residence halls and attending class.
Fall Break
Please watch for additional information, which will be sent to you by email, about the many activities that will take place during fall break. There will be lots of fun events planned on campus and in the city.
Thank you for your continued commitment to keeping the USF community healthy and safe.
Sincerely,
Natalie Macias
