MSP Summer Bridge Application
Muscat Scholars Program (MSP) Summer Bridge
The Muscat Scholars Program (MSP) Summer Bridge is a three-week transition experience designed to support first year, first-generation students straight out of high school. We prepare them to begin their academic journey at the University of San Francisco (USF). Through academic preparation, mentorship, and community building, MSP Summer Bridge helps students develop the skills, confidence, and sense of belonging needed to thrive during their first year of college. During their first academic year they are paired with a Peer Mentor who will guide them on all college life aspects.
Program Overview
The 2026 MSP Summer Bridge program includes both online academic preparation and an early on-campus experience designed to help students smoothly transition into university life.
Weeks 1–2: Online Academic Preparation via zoom through synchronous classes.
Monday, July 27 – Thursday, August 6, 2026
Students will complete two 1-unit online courses that count towards their graduation credits, designed specifically for first-generation college students. These courses focus on building the academic and personal foundations needed for success at USF, including:
- Navigating college expectations and academic resources
- Exploring identity, belonging, and leadership as a first-generation scholar
- Building community with fellow MSP students
These courses allow students to begin forming meaningful connections with their MSP cohort while gaining valuable tools before arriving on campus.
Week 3: Early On-Campus Arrival Experience
Move-In Day: Saturday, August 15, 2026 (Beginning at 8:00am -2:00pm)
Move-In Location: Toler Residence Hall
MSP Scholars will arrive on campus before the general new student move-in to participate in a special early-arrival experience from August 15–18, 2026.
During these days, students will:
- Move into their residence halls early
- Participate in community-building activities and workshops
- Connect with MSP mentors, staff, and fellow scholars
- Explore campus resources and spaces
- Begin building a strong support network before the full campus community arrives
This early immersion helps students become familiar with campus life and feel confident as they begin their first semester at USF.
Program Cost
The Muscat Scholars Program is committed to making this transition experience accessible to all participants.
- The two online courses, estimated at $3,000 are provided at no cost to MSP students.
