Types of Student Employment
There are a wide array of part-time positions available to students including on-campus Federal Work-Study (FWS), on-campus non need based, and off-campus FWS jobs.
On-Campus Jobs
On-campus jobs are available through the various University administrative offices and academic departments. Student positions include a range of duties such as;
- administrative assistance,
- technology support,
- events management,
- lab assistance, and
- research assistance.
Nearly every department on campus hires student employees!
Federal Work-Study (FWS)
- Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a federal financial aid program that helps fund student employment wages for eligible students.
- Students with a FWS award receive priority consideration for on-campus employment.
- Students with Federal Work-Study awards have the opportunity to apply for off-campus FWS positions.
- In order to be considered for FWS, students must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Students with a Federal Work Study Award must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress to be eligible for a FWS role.

Federal Work-Study (FWS) recipients must complete all financial aid requirements in order to begin employment. Off-Campus FWS Partners
Students receiving Federal Work-Study are eligible to work for one of our FWS off-campus partners. These students will gain experience working for government, private non-profit, and public interest agencies. Our FWS off-campus partners include:

- African-American Shakespeare Company
- Huckleberry Youth Foundation
- Engage Literacy Tutor
Remote Work
Students whose job duties are suitable for remote work are permitted to work remotely. Be sure to check with your direct supervisor as the needs of your hiring department will determine whether or not you can work remotely.
