Sustainability and Social Justice at USF
Office of Sustainability
USF’s Office of Sustainability, located within the university’s Facilities Management office, has long helped steer and track USF’s sustainability initiatives. The office works with a team of student interns to support and educate the entire community on sustainable living, from driving less to minimizing waste.
Graduate Degrees and Certificates
Consistent with the One Earth Initiative’s interdisciplinary focus, USF graduate programs in environmental management and energy systems management offer masters degrees that prepare students for a more sustainable world through the study of science, economics, planning, law, and policy. Both programs offer dual degree programs for a simultaneous MBA. Students in USF’s law school can earn a certificate in Environmental Law that combines foundational training in the law school with world-class externship opportunities with non-profits, government, and private firms throughout the Bay Area.
Undergraduate Majors, Minors, and Concentrations
USF offers majors dedicated to environmental protection, as well as minors and concentrations to deepen students’ understanding of sustainability. And inquiries into environmental sustainability and its connection to social justice are not limited to discrete classes or majors – classes across the curriculum integrate these themes. Architecture, Biology, Design, Management, Politics, Public Health, and Theology are a few of the programs whose classes incorporate interdisciplinary perspectives on the environment.
