Dear USF Community,
I write to inform you that after much deliberation, the university has made the difficult decision to postpone this year’s Family Weekend, originally scheduled for Oct. 1–3.
Protecting the health and well-being of our USF community is paramount. As we closely monitor national trends in COVID-19 cases — in particular the spread of the Delta variant — it is in the best interests of our students, faculty, and staff to limit large-scale gatherings on campus this fall. Our highest priority is maintaining a safe in-person academic and co-curricular experience for all students. We are grateful that we have been able to manage current cases this semester, and recognize that restricting the density of our campus will help us continue to do so.
We remain hopeful we will be able to bring families to campus for a family and alumni weekend in the spring. We will communicate with you as soon as a date is set.
Thank you for your understanding. We greatly appreciate the enthusiasm you have shown in being a part of the USF community. We look forward to welcoming you back to campus soon.
Sincerely,
Lester Deanes
Assistant Vice President of Student Engagement
