Dear USF Community,
There are several large campus events on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Oct. 22–24, and we are providing the following information about street access and parking restrictions so that you can plan accordingly.
Thursday, Oct. 22 | CelebrateUSF Weekend Kickoff
CelebrateUSF festivities begin on Thursday with the Mass of the Holy Spirit, the Thatcher Gallery’s Market/Value exhibition, and the Black Alumni Society’s Black Community Reunion.
Community members can expect minor parking impacts and various street closures on surrounding campus streets. Please observe posted street closure signs and plan your commute accordingly. If your work responsibilities allow, we encourage you to work remotely on Thursday to help minimize congestion and ease parking.
Friday, Oct. 23 | Funeral Services at St. Ignatius Church
There will be a large funeral at Saint Ignatius Church honoring a fallen member of the San Francisco Police Department on Friday. Street closures and impacted parking are expected from 7 a.m. to noon in the following areas:
- Fulton Street: Between Shrader Street/Parker Avenue and Clayton Street
- Parker Avenue: Between Fulton Street and Turk Boulevard
Please observe posted street closure signs and plan your commute accordingly. If your work responsibilities allow, we encourage you to work remotely on Friday to help minimize congestion and access challenges. There will be a significant media and law enforcement presence on and around campus because of the funeral.
Saturday, Oct. 24 | CelebrateUSF and Other Events
Saturday includes a full day of campus activities, including the Welch Field Festival, the Silk Speaker Series, Day in the Bay, several reunions, and a private wedding at Saint Ignatius Church.
Although campus-wide no-citation parking will be in effect, parking availability will be limited, and not all lots will be able to accommodate the anticipated demand. To help ease congestion and ensure a smoother arrival experience, we encourage those attending Saturday's events to consider public transportation, ride-share services, or carpooling whenever possible.
- The Kendrick Parking Garage will be closed Saturday, Oct. 24, for a private wedding.
- All other USF parking lots will be open and available for parking throughout the weekend.
We are excited to welcome our USF community, families, alumni, and guests to campus. By sharing these details in advance, we hope to help everyone plan ahead. Thank you for your patience and flexibility.
Warmly,
Department of Public Safety
