Prepare for the Water Shutdown – Wednesday, Oct. 1

Dear Campus Community,

The San Francisco Water Department is planning a water shutdown from 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, to 1 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, to complete urgent repairs to the city’s water infrastructure in the nearby neighborhoods.

This shutdown will impact all customers on Golden Gate Avenue between Parker and Masonic. All water access on USF’s lower campus will be affected by the water service disruption, including restrooms, shower facilities, food service, drinking fountains, building heat, and labs.

Prepare

  • Please plan ahead for this disruption.
  • Avoid using toilets and sinks during this period.
  • Portable restrooms will be available near residence halls and academic buildings for the duration of the shutdown.
  • Showers are available at Koret until 10 p.m.

Food Service

University Center

  • Dining service at Market Cafe, the Undercaf, and the Outtahere Store will close at 7:30 p.m.
  • If you plan to get dinner from Market Cafe, please come early to beat the rush.

Lone Mountain

  • Lone Mountain Cafe will be open from 7–10 p.m
  • The Lone Mountain store will stay open until 10 p.m.
  • Koret Lodge is open from 4:30–8 p.m.

Service Restoration

When water service is restored, you may notice temporary discoloration until the system is fully charged and flushed. This is normal. Facilities staff will work quickly to bring all plumbing systems back online as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience,
