OPE Performance Management
In this process, the supervisor and OPE member work together to establish, monitor and review the employee’s work objectives and overall contributions to the organization for the year. The University requires performance appraisals to take place on an annual basis. Performance Management provides supervisors with an opportunity to assess employees’ current performance – recognizing their strengths, celebrating their achievements, identifying areas of improvement and/or professional development, and planning for/setting goals for the next review period.
Performance Reviews
For OPE staff, the process includes a 4-month probationary period review for new OPE staff, a mid-year check-in, and a formal annual performance appraisal. Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement, employees are contractually obligated to meet with their supervisors for a mid-year performance check-in; no formal documentation (written evaluation) is required by either party. For questions, please contact David Philpott at philpottd@usfca.edu.
The process will start with OPE staff receiving a task in USFWorks to begin their self-appraisal and finish with the OPE member and their manager meeting to review the completed appraisal. The 2023 OPE appraisal period will launch March 11, 2024.
OPE members hired after Nov. 1, 2023 will not receive a self-appraisal.
NOTE: The 2023 OPE review period is March 2, 2023–Feb. 29, 2024.
- March 11–22: Employee completes self-evaluation.
- March 25 – April 12: Manager completes employee evaluation.
- April 15–26: Manager’s manager reviews and signs the evaluation
- April 29 – May 10: Manager meets with employee to review appraisal and complete signatures.
