At-Will Employment

Your employment with the University is on an “at-will” basis. This means your employment may be terminated at any time, with or without notice and with or without cause. Likewise, we respect your right to leave the University at any time, with or without notice and with or without cause. Furthermore, the University reserves the right to modify or alter an employee’s position, in its sole discretion, with or without cause or advance notice, through actions other than termination, including demotion, promotion, transfer, reclassification, suspension, change of work responsibility, or reassignment.

Nothing in the Handbook or in any oral or written statement should be understood as creating guaranteed or continued employment, a right to termination only “for cause,” or of any other guarantee of continued benefits or employment. The University may enter into an employment agreement with an employee for a specific job, length of time, or otherwise enter into any agreement contrary to the at-will policy of employment; however, any such agreement shall only be binding and effective if it is in writing and signed by the Supervising Vice President and the Associate Vice President of Human Resources.
