COVID-19 Health Plan Update
On May 11, 2023, the federal government ended the COVID-19 public health emergency. However in California, COVID-19 care coverage won’t immediately change. This means COVID19 vaccines, PCR and home antigen testing, and treatment will continue to be provided and covered as they are today. These services will be covered at no cost for the next 6 months, until November 12, 2023, in compliance with California law.
We will share more details on how these coverages may change as it becomes available.
Participants can also continue to be reimbursed for COVID-19 test kits and receive vaccines at a retail pharmacy. Kaiser members can visit kp.org for further information and Anthem members can visit https://www.anthem.com/ca/coronavirus/
Tips for staying healthy Even though the public health emergency is ending, it’s still important to practice healthy habits to protect yourself and your family from COVID-19.
Please continue to:
- Get vaccinated and keep up with boosters
- Wear a mask when recommended
- Stay home and test when you feel sick
- Wash your hands
COVID At-Home Test Kits
At-home tests, or "self tests," give rapid results and can be taken anywhere, regardless of your vaccination status or whether or not you have symptoms. Visit CDC.gov to learn when to test yourself, how to use an at-home test, and what your test results mean.
- Kaiser members, visit here.
- Anthem members, visit here.
- Visit COVID.gov/tests for additional information on testing options.
Currently masks are not required indoors in campus buildings, but are highly encouraged as we enter the flu season and experience increases of COVID infections. Being up to date with vaccinations is still the best protection.
USF is required to establish and implement an effective written COVID-19 Prevention Program (CPP) pursuant to an Emergency Temporary Standard in place for COVID-19 (California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 8, section 3205(c)).
In accordance with the latest guidance of local and state authorities regarding travel, USF is amending travel restrictions on university-sponsored travel to allow for a limited resumption of essential travel. University employees are no longer required to be vaccinated in order to travel on university business. Read the policy.
