Rhetoric and Language Department

Pending interest in this challenge, USF's department of Rhetoric and Language may expand their public speaking workshops to faculty and staff in the fall of 2017!

Currently, the department provides students with the resources to excel in all aspects of communication, literacy, and rhetoric, concentrated in composition, public speaking, and academic English for multilingual students. For more information, visit the Rhetoric and Language web page.

myLearning

For more information on enhancing presentation skills, visit the online training section of myLearning, Human Resources' online professional development software. There are two courses currently offered:

  • Creating a Presentation: Among the fears that people have about giving a presentation is that they will get mixed up, forget to make a key point, or repeat themselves. This course describes how to create key parts of a presentation – the introduction, support content, and conclusion – memorable and effective.
  • Delivering a Presentation: Excellence in presentation can be achieved when the standard of your delivery matches the quality of your content. This course describes how to make your delivery successful and memorable. It covers techniques for managing stage fright – the biggest problem most speakers have.
  • Register for these and any other professional development course by logging into myLearning with your myUSF credentials.
