Staff Award: Fr. William J. Dunne Award
In May 2024, Program Assistant IV and Program Assistant Lead Kimberly Garrett of the English & Comparative Literature and MFA in Writing Program departments won the Fr. William J. Dunne Award. This award honors an individual or team who has demonstrated excellence to USF, the extended university community, and the community at large through service, creativity, innovation, and leadership above and beyond the scope of regular job duties.
In particular, Kimberly was recognized for her extraordinary work in creating, organizing, and sustaining the Writers of Discontent event. Kimberly has used these events to raise awareness and funds for some important social justice causes, including most recently in support of March for Our Lives and its fight against gun violence. Her efforts have helped to raise around $6,000 to support various causes, with funds going to the Southern Poverty Law Center, Stop AAPI Hate, March For Our Lives, and Glide Memorial Church, among others. Congratulations, Kimberly!
