Update on Gleeson Library Protest and Campus Access

As a community, we recognize the right to engage in peaceful protest. Our policies require that protests be conducted in a manner that respects the dignity and rights of others, without disrupting campus operations. Adhering to these policies allows our community to uphold the principles of academic freedom, mutual respect, and social responsibility that are central to USF's Jesuit mission and identity.

Student protesters voluntarily left the Gleeson Library atrium after the San Francisco Police Department arrived to ensure the USF community has safe access to the library. Protesters were given four warnings by university staff before officers arrived. No protesters or students were detained.

The library is expected to reopen at 5 p.m. No classes or other educational experiences have been interrupted. We will continue to ensure that we have spaces and resources to support students as they prepare for finals.
