Field of Study Scholarship

The Field of Study Scholarship is designed to support students who are pursuing one of our designated programs at USF. Eligibility

  • You must be a new, first-time, first-year student admitted to fall 2025 or later
  • You must be enrolled in one of the eligible majors (list below) by the fall census date of your first semester at USF. The fall census date is always the third Friday after fall classes start.
  • In other words, this scholarship is based on whichever major you're enrolled in at the fall census date (the third Friday after classes start) of your first semester at USF.
  • You must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) to continue receiving the scholarship.

Eligible Majors

The following majors are eligible for the Field of Study Scholarship:

  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Business Analytics
  • Entrepreneurship and Innovation
  • History
  • Philosophy
  • English
  • Theology and Religious Studies

If you change to a major outside this eligible list, the scholarship will not continue.

Changing Your Major

The Field of Study Scholarship is a four-year scholarship offered starting in fall 2025 to new, incoming first-year students who are enrolled in one of the eligible majors by the fall census date of their first semester at USF. If you change your major to a non-eligible major, you will not receive the scholarship. If you change your mind later in your college career and change back to an eligible major, you will not receive the scholarship.

Remember, the "cutoff date" is the fall census date of your first semester at USF. It doesn’t matter if you change your major back by future census dates, the first census date is the deadline used for the purposes of this scholarship.

For example:
You’ve been admitted as a first-year student to the History major (one of the eligible majors) for fall 2025. For fall 2025, the census date is Friday, September 5 (the third Friday after classes start).

If you change your major to a non-eligible major before September 5, 2025, you will not receive the scholarship for fall 2025 and all future terms at USF, even if you later change your major back to an eligible major.

If you change your major to a non-eligible major after September 5, 2025, you will receive the scholarship for fall 2025, but not for spring 2026 and all future terms at USF, even if you later change your major back to an eligible major.
