Intent to Apply Form

Please use this form if you plan to apply for External Support from a government agency (city, state, or federal), a foundation, or a corporate sponsor. The information that you provide will help the University understand the nature of your project so that we can best support the development of your proposal.  The goal is to get you funding so that you can do your work, and together “we can change the world from here.”

Please note the following:  

  • The approval of your Dean is required two (2) times in the fund seeking process - first through this form (enabling us to help you develop a proposal), and second, through a subsequent proposal approval form prior to submission of the completed proposal.  
  • If the funder or sponsor does not allow indirect costs, additional USF approval(s) will be required prior to proposal submission.
  • Before submitting an ITA request, please confirm your eligibility by reviewing USF’s eligibility policy (page 6 of the USF Grants Manual).

A minimum of Twenty (20) business days’ notice is required to ensure sufficient time for obtaining both internal and external approvals, as well as for developing a complete and compelling narrative and project budget that align with university policies.

NOTE: Applicants are required to meet with their college/division representative to discuss proposed projects and possible college/division commitments (e.g., cost-sharing, release time, etc.). Consent must be granted prior to the development of proposal. Division (Dean/VP) approval to submit a proposal will be required before the official University commitment can be authorized by the Provost.
