Undergraduate Core Curriculum Redesign Task Force Phase III: Implementation

The University has successfully completed the first two phases of the Undergraduate Core Curriculum Redesign: Phase I: Discovery and Phase II: Design. We are now entering Phase III:  Implementation (starting January 2026-May 2027), where the focus shifts from planning and design to execution, evaluation, and sustainability. This task force is charged with guiding and operationalizing the approved redesign model toward a successful launch of the new Core Curriculum in alignment with the University’s mission and commitment to redesigning a signature Jesuit education that supports student success.

Phase III Core Curriculum Implementation Task Force is charged with:

  1. Operationalizing the approved redesign of the Core Curriculum and Provost recommendations
  2. Supporting and participating in faculty development and formation related workshops for the redesigned Core 
  3. Recommending policies and practices in collaboration with existing curricular approval structures and key campus partners 
  4. Developing and implementing assessment frameworks
  5. Ensuring administrative, advising, and curricular alignment
  6. Providing clear and regular communication to faculty, students, and staff regarding implementation progress
  7. Monitoring pilot rollouts and continuous improvement

By the conclusion of Phase III, the Task Force will deliver:

  1. A fully operational redesigned Core Curriculum with approved courses and trained faculty
  2. Updated academic and advising materials that clearly communicate requirements to students
  3. A faculty development and support infrastructure for ongoing teaching and learning excellence
  4. A functioning assessment framework to measure student learning and support accreditation
  5. A sustainable structure to guide continuous improvement of the Core

The Task Force will include faculty, librarians, staff, and students, and be chaired by the appointed Director of the Core Curriculum, with administrative support from the Vice Provost for Student Success, Inclusive Excellence, and Curricular Innovation. The Initial Year Faculty Fellow will serve as assistant chair of the task force. The Task Force will regularly report updates to the Office of the Provost, as well as to the broader university community.
