Student Groups and Initiatives
From interfaith collaborations to transformative social justice initiatives, our students are dedicated to creating meaningful change in their communities and beyond. By fostering dialogue across diverse traditions, they promote understanding and unity, bridging divides to build stronger, more inclusive relationships. Their commitment to service is seen in advocacy efforts, community engagement projects, and initiatives that challenge systemic inequities. These students embody the call to be people for others, using their faiths, values, and passions to create a world where justice, compassion, and equity are at the forefront. Below are only a few of the inspiring ways they are making a lasting impact and leading with purpose.
Green Faiths Initiative
The Green Faiths Initiative (GFI) is a student-led program at USF that bridges the gap between faith and environmental action. Through leadership development, hands-on environmental projects, and interfaith dialogue, GFI empowers students to tackle urgent ecological challenges while fostering mutual understanding across diverse faith traditions.
Throughout the year, GFI offers leadership training, monthly volunteering opportunities, and workshops focused on environmental justice. Highlights include an immersion trip to Ecuador (January 2025) and an interfaith vigil for the planet during USF's Environmental Justice Month in April. The initiative is open to students passionate about sustainability, faith, and social justice.

Indigenous Freedom of Traditional Prayer
University Ministry's mission is to support the spiritual, religious, and pastoral needs of the USF community. This includes access to "ceremonial forms of prayer that are crucial for students and their spiritual well being on this campus." Thus, ASUSF, with support from University Ministry, and this office's intent to make a reality, passed the Indigenous Freedom of Traditional Prayer for all Indigenous students on campus.
