Dear USF Community,
Thank you for your patience and understanding last Friday and over the weekend as Facilities responded to the emergency gas leak on the lower campus.
During the gas line repair, our team discovered significant deterioration in an adjacent water distribution line. To proactively address this issue while the trench remains open, contractors will replace approximately 40 feet of this water line on Monday, Feb. 24.
Service Impact & Schedule
- Water shutdown begins at 8 a.m., with service expected to be restored within approximately 8 hours.
- Buildings impacted: Toler, Cowell, and Malloy Hall.
- Traffic restrictions: Vehicle access will be restricted at the main drive intersection between UC and McLaren during the work. Pedestrian traffic outside of the work zone may continue. Expect some noise from trucks and equipment.
- Temporary portable restrooms will be provided between Cowell and Malloy Hall. Restrooms in UC, Kalmanovitz, and CSI will also be available.
Project Timeline
- Monday, Feb. 24: Water line replacement and shutdown.
- Tuesday, Feb. 25: Trench infill begins.
- Thursday, Feb. 27: Paver installation expected to be completed by end of day.
- Friday, Feb. 28: Area reopens for regular traffic.
We appreciate your cooperation as we complete this necessary infrastructure work. Please reach out to Facilities Management at (415) 422-6464 with any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Facilities Management
