The Department of Public Safety and the Office of Community Living are preparing for the annual fire alarm evacuation drill for all of the residence halls and connected buildings on the Hilltop Campus. This evacuation drill is part of the university’s ongoing effort to ensure the community is prepared for a fire emergency and understands the actions needed to stay safe.
When the fire alarm activates:
- Do not wait for confirmation of an actual fire or assume the alarm is a false alarm. Evacuate immediately, even if fire and smoke are not apparent.
- DO NOT use the elevators. Use the stairs.
- DO NOT assemble next to the building. Quickly move away and assemble in your designated emergency assembly area.
- It is imperative that you take an active role in your safety. Be prepared and know what you need to do and where you need to go.
- Remain outside the building until otherwise directed by Public Safety or a Building Marshal.

The fire drills will be held during the week of Sept. 20.
The actual dates and times are not being announced, but you have time to prepare for the drill and evacuation.
