Sponsored projects give students a chance to gain real-world experience by working with companies on a clearly scoped project.

These projects provides students with:

  • Real-life experience working with a project sponsor
  • Guidance from a USF professor on a technical approach

Companies that sponsor projects will gain:

  • A project that can become a proof of concept done at no cost
  • Interaction with students that can help with internship and job recruitment

These projects are taken on by our CS 490 and CS 690 classes. Each class is taught by a professor who guides the students throughout the semester. There are typically 2-4 students per project.

  • CS 490 - Senior Undergraduate Computer Science Students
  • CS 690 - Senior Graduate Computer Science Students

As a project sponsor you will...

  • Provide a project for the students to work on over the course of the semester
  • Provide a representative to guide/interact with your student team (1 hour per week, online or in-person)
  • Be available to answer questions about the project
  • Provide access to resources needed to complete the project
  • Participate in the final presentation of the project with students

Project classes are offered in the Spring and Fall semesters

Project submissions from sponsors are due 3 weeks before the beginning of the semester

Early to mid January for the Spring semester

Early August for Fall semester

Each semester is 15 weeks
