Call for 2024-2025 Proposals: Faculty-led Short-term Programs

The Center for Global Education, in partnership with the Vice Provost of Global Education and the Faculty Advisory Board on Internationalization (FABI), is accepting proposals for faculty-led short-term international and domestic programs to be offered in Fall 2024, Intersession 2025, Spring Break 2025, and Summer 2025. 

The call 2024-2025 proposals will open in October 2023, to allow time to develop the program for submission in late January 2024.

Program proposals will be reviewed by a Review Committee convened by the Vice Provost of Global Education, Immersions and Strategic Initiatives. The committee will be composed of faculty and relevant staff from across colleges and disciplines. Selection criteria will include:

  • Alignment with strategic plan goals of global focus and responsibility 
  • Alignment with university’s social justice mission grounded in Jesuit values
  • Integration of academic content with experiential learning uniquely available on site
  • Opportunities to nurture global citizenship, intercultural competencies and cultural humility
  • Advancing of academic and/or community-engaged interests and goals
  • Contribution to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion

Selected Programs

Selected proposals will receive support from the Center for Global Education that includes:

  • Working with the faculty to liaise with the provider/host institution to develop the program
  • Communicating with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Coordinating logistics and providing administrative support
  • Assisting faculty to develop a program budget
  • Health, safety and security assessment 
  • Developing recruitment strategies and promotional materials
  • Guidance in marketing the program
  • Collecting required pre-departure and compliance documents
  • Leading health and safety orientation for students and group leaders

Additional Support

  • Selected proposals are eligible for financial support to defray costs for students who qualify.
  • Each approved program will be provided a trained second person to assist the faculty leader on the program (to be selected in consultation with the faculty member).
  • Faculty with proposals will work closely with CGE to further develop their programs.
