These resources are provided to all University students, faculty and staff that plan to conduct research with human subjects.
Research conducted by University of San Francisco affiliates using human participants is overseen by the IRB. Its purpose is to facilitate human subjects research and to ensure the rights and welfare of human subjects are protected during their participation.
What Needs IRB Approval?
All Human Subjects Research conducted by students, faculty and staff of the University must receive approval from the IRB. If your research meets the definitions of both research and human subjects, you must complete the IRB process. Review more information on our What Needs IRB Approval page.
What is the IRB Process?
The entire application and review process is accomplished online through the IRB website, AxiomMentor. The AxiomMentor site will be the main conduit for sending and receiving notifications and correspondence for applicants and advisors. How do I Submit an IRB Application?
All IRB protocol applications are submitted through the IRB website, AxiomMentor. All students applying to the IRB must have a faculty advisor in order to submit an application. Complete details for submitting an application can be found on our How to Submit an Application page.
