About Liturgical Ministries

LECTORS
Lectors read the first and second reading of the scriptures at the Student Liturgies. As part of this, we welcome people to read in world languages other than English for our second reading each Sunday. Lectors are also called upon to read the Prayer of the Faithful petitions at mass.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
Eucharistic Ministers assist in distributing the sacred body and blood during Communion. They may be ministers of the cup or ministers of the bread.

ACOLYTES (ALTAR SERVERS)
Acolytes assist on the altar during the liturgy and may also carry the Cross in the Opening and Closing processions. Assisting means holding liturgical books for the presider, assisting the presider with vessels during the preparation rite, and helping in various other ways.

CHOIR MEMBER
Choir members lead the song for each liturgy. Our choir, the USF Liturgical Choir, not only sings weekly for the Sunday 7 p.m. student mass in St. Ignatius Parish but also a handful of other liturgies throughout the academic year. You may sign up for the choir as a volunteer or you may also take choir for up to 1 credit hour of academic credit.
