The Computer Science Department offers two scholarship categories: Admission and In-Program.

Admission Scholarships

Recipients receive these awards after enrolling into the program.

  • MSCS Admission Scholarship: Awarded to incoming MSCS applicants with outstanding applications.
  • The Dean's Scholarship: Funding for tuition, research, or conference travel.
  • Double Dons Scholarship: A 20% tuition discount for USF alumni which cannot be combined with other USF awards.

In Program Scholarships

Current students may apply for merit or non-merit awards.

Merit 

  • Merit and Retention Scholarship: Awarded to a limited number of current MSCS graduate students based on academic performance.

Non-Merit

These awards support students who demonstrate financial need and provide service that advances our department values. 

  • USF CS Community Service Award  Recognizes active volunteers and peer mentors excluding paid TA or RA roles.

  • Women in Tech Service Award: In recognition of those who serve Women in Tech at USF and beyond.

  • Cura Personalis Award: Supports underserved students whose experiences enrich the department.

  • Financial Need Based Award: Supports students who demonstrate financial need that limits their ability to fully participate in the program.

  • Research Award Recognizes substantial research contributions while enrolled at USF. 

  • Entrepreneurship Award Celebrates students who develop creative projects or ventures.

Non-merit eligibility

  1. Only students who have completed their first year of study can apply

  2. Students may apply for up to two non-merit awards

  3. Students graduating in the same term as the application are not eligible

  4. Students in a tuition remittance program are not eligible
