CAS Staff Resources
Below, you can find information and links for professional development resources, employee handbook and performance review information. Suggestions on useful information to include can be forwarded to Interim Dean Jeff Paris <paris@usfca.edu>.
The University has various learning and development materials
In addition, the Dean's office supports Professional development opportunities, and is developing a proposal process whereby staff members can submit requests for skills-based workshops, disciplinary events, and conferences relevant to their position responsibilities. The Dean's office has allocated $10K to this purpose; additional funds to support requests once this is exhausted is also possible.
Criteria for Professional Development
Trainings, conferences, conventions, and events that enhance a staff member’s effectiveness in their current job responsibilities and/or provide updated disciplinary/technical expertise in their fields. Courses and certificates, coaching and lessons, are not included unless specified as a condition of employment (Please check LinkedIn Learning for skills/competency-based opportunities).
Typical requests may include travel and lodging along with a per diem, and registration fees. Requests over $1500 may require supplemental support from a program’s general operating budget and approval from the Academic Program Director.
Applications may be submitted at any time, and more than 1 request in a fiscal year is permitted.
Some examples include: conference and expos in, e.g., graduate enrollment management; academic technology; higher education marketing.
