Any advice on how to turn a summer internship into a long-term gig?

During the internship, I'd recommend having one-on-one meetings with different people in the organization to not only make sure everyone knows you, but to also get a sense of what they do and what's needed. Having a positive attitude and being professional (e.g. always on time, reliable, dress appropriately, etc) is important too! Early on, have a meeting with your direct supervisor to set goals, then have a meeting towards the end to clearly express your interest in the company and opportunities to continue working with them! Put together a list of all the great work, projects, and contributions you've made during your time as an intern to show how invested you are. Make sure that you demonstrate how valuable you are to the organization during the duration of your internship. Sometimes your internship placement might not have the capacity or need to hire an employee at the time, but don't let that discourage you from letting them know about your interest because they could even connect you to your next opportunity at a similar organization.
