May 2022 Commencement Information

The information below is subject to change. *We are continuing to monitor COVID-19 with our partners at the San Francisco Department of Public Health and will make any necessary changes they require.

Commencement Schedule - May 19th - 21st

The 163rd Commencement Ceremonies will be held in-person at a reduced capacity.

Guest tickets will be limited to two (2) tickets per student.

All guests will be required to be fully vaccinated, including a booster dose, or provide a negative COVID-19 test prior to entering the church.

  • Vaccinated guests must show proof of full vaccination status, including a booster dose, prior to entering the church. The list of approved vaccines can be found here: Approved Vaccines.  
  • Unvaccinated guests must provide a negative COVID-19 test administered within 24 hours of the start of each ceremony. This testing requirement is applicable for all unvaccinated guests above the age of 2 (24 months). Please note that at-home tests will NOT be accepted as we cannot verify who took the test, thus we require the test be administered by a healthcare professional.

All guests, regardless of vaccination status, are required to complete a Dons Health Check and COVID-19 Visitor Questionnaire before arriving on campus. Students must complete the Dons Health Check and all other guests must complete the COVID-19 Visitor Questionnaire.

All ceremonies will be streamed virtually on USF's website,  YouTube, and FacebookThere will be NO overflow seating areas in order to minimize the number of guests on campus. If a guest does not have a ticket they should not come to campus.

Grad Finale Event Schedule - Regalia Pickup 

Eligible graduating students will be sent an email to their USF account on April 4th inviting them to attend the Grad Finale (April 22 and 23) to pick up their academic regalia. Regalia will not be available any sooner than the dates below. 

Please note that all Fall 2021 School of Education students will only be permitted to participate in the May 2022 ceremony and will be distributed their regalia during the April 2022 Grad Finale.  

Location: San Francisco Campus - Lone Mountain Main 100 (Handlery Room)
Friday - April 22, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday - April 23, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Students may attend the Grad Finale event on either Friday or Saturday, this is a drop-in event not a full day event. These are the ONLY times you will be able to get your regalia before Commencement so please plan accordingly and/or utilize the Proxy Pickup Authorization Form

*Photo ID and your signature will be required to obtain your academic regalia. If someone other than yourself is picking up your regalia, please provide them with the Proxy Pickup Authorization Form. This is the only acceptable document for picking up graduation items. Form must be printed, signed, and dated — no other forms or electronic signatures will be accepted.

During the Grad Finale, students will be able to:

  • Obtain their Academic Regalia - No Fee
    • Regalia will include; mortarboard cap, gown, hood, and tassel.
    • Eligible undergraduate students receiving University Honors will also be distributed an honors sash. Please note that Honor sashes will not be distributed after commencement to students who later became eligible for University Honors after final grades are submitted. However, the appropriate University Honors designation will be indicated on both the transcript and diploma.
    • Place an order for USF College Rings and Graduation Announcements

 


Students Unable to Attend the Grad Finale Event: 

Students who did not attend the Grad Finale event can pick-up their academic regalia during the times below.

Please note these are the ONLY times students will be able to receive their regalia post Grad Finale.

Location: Gleeson Library - Atrium 
Thursday - May 19th from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Friday & Saturday - May 20th and 21st from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

 


Guest Ticket Distribution Schedule - May 2nd

Guest tickets are ELECTRONIC and will be sent to your USF email. 

The emailing of the Student Walk ticket and guest tickets will begin on May 2nd. At that time, students will be able to print and forward individual tickets to their guests. There will be NO overflow seating areas available, meaning that only guests with a ticket to the ceremony will be permitted on campus. 

NOTE: Guest tickets can ONLY BE SCANNED ONCE. The first time the guest ticket is scanned will allow entry into St. Ignatius Church. All subsequent attempts to scan the same guest ticket will result in persons not being allowed into the church. NO EXCEPTIONS! 

 


Degrees and Diplomas

Spring 2022 degrees will be awarded by July 15, 2022 with diplomas arriving by August 1st for domestic deliveries and by November 1st for most international deliveries. 

Please confirm and/or update your diploma mailing address in your myUSF portal, under the Personal Information tab, no later than Friday, May 27th to ensure a timely delivery of your diploma.
