Where Should I Live ?
This is a great question and one we feel really depends on your preference
- Do you want to live in an apartment or house?
- Do you prefer urban or residential?
- Do you enjoy living near the water, parks, or restaurants?
- Is living close to USF important to you?
- Are you sharing or looking for a private room?
NOTE: Most importantly, knowing your rental budget range will help determine your options.

Below are a list of neighborhoods close to USF which house the majority of our off campus students.
- Inner Richmond
- Outer Richmond
- Inner Sunset
- Outer Sunset
- Cole Valley
- Laurel Heights
Typically, USF students choose to live in the neighborhoods listed above, however, due to financial reasons and/or availability, this is not always possible. Take a look at this map to help familiarize yourself with other areas in the city that you might consider living in. Thanks to the wonderful Bay Area transportation, other neighborhoods a bit farther away from USF main campus are still accessible.
