Advising and Class Registration Tutorials

Welcome to the advising and registration tutorials for incoming USF students. These tutorials will help you understand your graduation requirements, navigate USF's student registration portal, and register for classes.

To learn how to navigate the Banner Self-Service interface to access registration, your degree evaluation, placement test scores, holds, class schedule, and more, please review the Banner Self-Service Student Guide.

You will also connect with a faculty or staff adviser in your program/department who can help you decide which classes to register for.

Instructions

  1. Select your major from the menu by clicking on Undergraduate Programs.
  2. Watch the videos to understand your graduation and major requirements, and which placement tests to take.
  3. Complete the necessary placement tests for your major (if any). All students must take the Directed Self Placement (DSP) to know which Rhetoric (RHET) class to register for. This link is on the Placement Tests page under "Directed Self Placement."

You do not need to take the DSP if:
    • Your acceptance letter indicated that you will be completing Academic English for Multilingual Students (AEM) courses at USF
    • You are part of the Martin Baro Scholars Program
    • You are a Sacramento VANAP nursing student
  4. Complete the Academics at USF section of Next Steps
  5. First year students: Class registration for new First Year Undergraduates and Transfer students opens on Tuesday, January 14. Beginning January xx, you can view your registration access time on the Student Profile. Navigate to the Student Profile by following these steps:
  • Login myUSF Dashboard
  • Click Banner Self-Service (Student).

  • On the Student Services landing page, click on  on the top left corner.
  • Click Banner à  Student  à  Student Records à Student Profile
  • Above your photo change the term, if needed.
