Creighton's top movers!

Published Friday, March 8, 2024

What a month! Congratulations to everyone who completed the challenge and congratulations to Creighton University who earned the title as most active university for the first time, dethroning Santa Clara from their 5 year winning streak. It was neck and neck until the end. What an exciting finish to the month! Thank you to all who participated and although the challenge is over, we encourage you to keep moving.

Nick Cox, Creighton's Wellness Guru, shares his thoughts on the challenge this year. "Creighton University is very proud to be the winner of the 2024 Go Move Challenge. The University certainly came alive during the month and everyone wanted to be a part of the effort.  Registration numbers began to snowball and with that came encouragement and motivation from every direction. Leaders encouraged other leaders, peers motivated other peers, and the month gained momentum in a big way. Creighton's Wellness Council did an excellent job supporting the initiative by offering ways to sneak in a few extra minutes during the workday. Examples of this include hosting weekly Polar Walks, Virtual Yoga, and a Go Move Activity Day. Creighton would like to congratulate the other Universities who participated in this year's challenge because ultimately it's another win for health and wellness at our great institutions."

We had one extra day to move with leap year which contributed to our increase in overall minutes. We accumulated over 100,000 more minutes this year than in 2023! Final standings:
  • Most Minutes: Creighton University*
  • Average of Most Minutes: Canisius University*
  • Regional Average Minutes Per Person
    • East Coast - Canisius University
    • Mid-West - Loyola University Chicago
    • West Coast - Santa Clara University

* First time winners in this position

An Inspiration

We share a story about a dedicated Go Move Challenge participant who was the top performer for Saint Joseph's University, tracking over 5000 minutes! Jarrett Hurms,  Adjunct professor of Decision and Systems Sciences, is a runner! He is currently training for the Rock and Roll Nashville Marathon in April and then the Chicago Marathon in October. Way to earn those minutes Jarrett!
