Brief Motivational Intervention Session Instructions
BMI (Brief Motivational Intervention) is a conversation or a motivational interview about alcohol awareness. It consists of a 30-45 minute session with a trained Peer Educator, and are designed to be confidential, non-judgmental, and supportive.
The goals of BMIs are to educate students on responsible drinking, to reduce alcohol related harm/consequences to self and others, to assist students in clarifying and resolving any ambivalence about their drinking behaviors, and promote bystander intervention.
The Office of Student Conduct and Responsibilities will require students found in violation of the Alcohol policy to attend a BMI as a part of their outcomes. Students can schedule an appointments at least 24 hours in advance:
