Tips for Getting Involved

Getting involved can feel exciting, overwhelming, or even a little confusing — and that’s completely normal! College is a big transition, and finding your place takes time. The good news? You don’t have to figure it out alone. Here are SLE’s top five (5) tips to help you get started:

  1. Explore Student Organizations
Follow the organizations you're interested in on social media to stay updated on meetings and events.
  2. Apply for a Change the World From Here Institute program
These experiences connect you with community partners and help you grow as a leader.
  3. Attend a Student Government meeting
It’s a great way to learn how ASUSF Senate and Graduate Student Senate student leaders shape campus life (and how you can, too)!
  4. Check out the Fall and Spring Student Involvement Fairs
Explore 150+ student organizations and select department. If nothing stands out right away, consider starting your own organization.
  5. Follow @usfsle on Instagram
Stay in the loop about upcoming events, leadership opportunities, and ways to connect.

USF has so much to offer. Don’t be afraid to try something new, even if it’s outside your comfort zone. Just remember, getting involved isn’t a race; it’s about discovering your community, at your own pace. If you need help finding your community, make an appointment with a Student Organization Consultant. They are here to support you every step of the way.
