International Students Housing Information

Beginning the Search

This is an important page within the USF website with tips on understanding the housing market. Even though the focus says San Francisco, it also pertains to the Southern California area.

Required Documents for Housing

Not all students will receive an SSN while attending USF Orange County and may need to provide other documentation when applying to rent an apartment. There are various forms you could bring with you when looking for housing, so read through your options carefully and consult with your ISSS contact if necessary.

ISSS (International Student and Scholar Services)

Each program has their own ISSS contact that is able to help you through this process. Reach out to your Program Administrator if you have not heard from ISSS after being admitted to your program!

  • Hours: Mon–Fri from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m; check their webpage to see the most up to date hours due to any changes.
  • Phone Number: +1 (415) 422-2654
  • Email: isss@usfca.edu

Applying for your Visa

You will need to make an appointment with the US Embassy closest to your home country. Your ISSS contact will make sure you’re applying for the correct Visa type. This resource page goes over the steps involved and answers many frequently asked questions.

Living in the US (ISSS Assisted)
Living abroad can be intimidating. ISSS has put together resources for you on how to handle taxes, obtain a driver’s license, what to do for emergency situations, and more.
