Safety Programs & Training

Working with certain kinds of equipment, hazardous materials and even certain occupations require special training as well as personal protective equipment (e.g. gloves, goggles, respiratory protection).

In California the Environmental Protection Agency (Cal-EPA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal-OSHA) have numerous regulations with regard to environmental and occupational safety.

Many of these require a written program, training of affected staff, and the purchase and maintenance of equipment. The program may be inspected by a regulatory agency on a routine basis or at any time.

Please contact the Environmental Health and Safety Office for a review of the hazards associated with your occupation or duties and recommended personal protective equipment, as well as a determination of the appropriate safety program requirements.
