Be Apart of the Cool B.E.A.N.S. Crowd!
What does this mean? First, the acronym B.E.A.N.S stands for Balancing Exercise and Nutrition Students.
Research has shown that college students may not consume the recommended 5 servings or more of fruits and vegetables a day. At USF, according to the Fall 2015 ACHA National College Health Assessment, about 7% of students surveyed met the recommended amount. This means that a large majority of our students are not getting vital nutrients that are needed for the body to function optimally.
Cool B.E.A.N.S is part of our nutrition program to raise awareness that it's cool to care about your health by focusing on balancing exercise and nutrition in your daily lives. Through this easy to remember phrase, made popular in American pop culture during the late 1960s, we hope students will connect with us for nutrition education and resources for self-care.
