Fall 2020 International Student Orientation Schedule

Online Mandatory International Student Orientation Session

Beginning August 5, all new students can log into the online orientation and complete the modules at your own pace. The module will cover immigration, tips for academic success, and cultural adjustment. The deadline to complete the online module is August 15.

Online Mandatory Status Verification (Only for students who have arrived in the U.S.)

International students who arrive in the U.S. will check-in with ISSS by providing their immigration documents. This is a required step in maintaining your status. You can submit your Status Verification on the MyISSS portal. Students who are attending from outside of the US do not need to complete Status Verification. The deadline to submit the status verification is August 28 or immediately following your arrival (if after August 28).

Come meet some of the International Students Orientation (ISO) guides! We have prepared various activities and we would love to get to know each and every one of you. Let’s have fun! 

August 13, Thursday

Join online with one of our library staff and learn how to access library resources, and other useful tips. Click on the time to access zoom meeting.

7pm-8pm - SF and Beyond Presentation (For students outside of the U.S.)

There are so many fun things to do in San Francisco and the Bay Area! This presentation will provide information and tips about San Francisco to prepare you for when you arrive. Click on the time to access zoom meeting.

August 14, Friday

8am-9am - Friday "Night" Game Night with your New College Friends!

Meet and play games with your new college friends! There will be games and other fun activities. This is an opportunity to meet and interact with other new students from different cultures and ask the guides anything you want to know about USF! 

11am-12pm - SF and Beyond Presentation (For students in the U.S.)

There are so many fun things to do in San Francisco and the Bay Area! This presentation will provide students who are currently in the US with safe and fun activities to do in the Bay Area while practicing social distancing. Click on the time to access zoom meeting.

August 27, Thursday 

6-7pm - Working and Driving presentation

Learn to find jobs on campus, apply for a social security number, and get a drivers license. Please note this presentation is designed for students who are currently residing in the US.

August 28, Friday

11pm - 12am - International Student Night! 

Hosted by ISO guides, this event is an opportunity to meet and interact with other new students from different cultures around the globe! Our ISO guides will test the group's knowledge of the Bay Area and USF with interactive trivia questions and games! Click on the time to access zoom meeting.

English Placement Testing 

Online Testing for all undergrad students who will be required to take English classes in the AEM department during their undergraduate degree. Time and location will be notified by AEM.

Immunization Clinic

Please go to HPS immunization page for information. ISSS recommends students complete all immunization requirements before coming to the U.S. If you are not able to complete the requirement before you arrive, please make sure you go to Dignity Health Clinic to complete immunizations after you finish the mandatory required quarantine period.
