Hazardous Waste
Cal OSHA's Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (Title 8, General Industry Safety Order 5192) requires that individuals at risk of exposure to hazardous waste receive the proper training.
Hazardous waste is generally any compound that was considered a hazardous material that is no longer useful or that is declared a waste material.
Laws governing the collection and disposal of hazardous wastes are very strict and are different from those that govern hazardous materials.
If you work with hazardous materials, it is likely you will also be generating a hazardous waste.
If you are a generator of hazardous waste please contact the Environmental Safety Office for compliance assistance in managing your waste.
