Contraception Distribution Policy
I. Purpose
The University of San Francisco, as a Jesuit, Catholic institution of higher education, is committed to promoting the dignity of the human person, the common good, and holistic student well-being. This policy aims to outline the University’s position regarding the distribution of contraceptive products on campus in alignment with Catholic moral teaching and Jesuit educational values. At the same time, the University recognizes the diverse health, wellness, and personal circumstances of its students and is committed to fostering a compassionate, informed, and supportive campus environment. In keeping with the Jesuit tradition of Cura Personalis—care for the whole person—the University seeks to accompany students by addressing current health needs with respect, dignity, and access to educational resources while remaining grounded in its Catholic mission and values.
II. Distribution of Contraceptive Products
No On-Campus Distribution
The University does not distribute or make available contraceptives. This includes, but is not limited to channels such as:
- Health Promotion Services
- Campus retail outlets
- University facilities
- Recognized Student organizations
- University-sponsored events
- University departments, centers, or schools/college
III. Education and Spiritual Support
Rooted in our Jesuit tradition of cura personalis, the University provides these resources as a commitment to the health, safety, and informed discernment of our students.
- Comprehensive health education
- Pastoral counseling and spiritual guidance
- Access to medical consultation and appropriate referrals for off-campus services including, but not limited to the UCSF clinic located on Hayes Street
- Programs promoting healthy relationships, human dignity, and responsible decision-making
