Gender and Sexuality Center
The Gender & Sexuality Center is both a physical lounge space for students, and a hub for LGBTQ+ resources, services, and events. Our lounge is open to all students, and is staffed by interns during when classes are in session from Monday through Friday.
About the Center
The Gender and Sexuality Center is located on the fourth floor of the University Center building and is located to the left and down the hall after exiting from the stairwell or elevator. We are situated next to the Intercultural Center who we collaborate with regularly.
Our lounge space has plentiful seating for USF students to hang out with friends and cultural center interns, a seating area for studying, and a TV compatible with airplay streaming or HDMI hookups. You can enjoy hot coffee or tea, snacks, coloring pages, and more available to enjoy throughout the day. You will also find various pamphlets which cover sexual health and healthcare, local resources and aid, and more available to take with you.
Within our lounge is the Gender Affirming Clothing Closet which is available for USF students to access free gender-affirming clothing confidently away from potential judgment, discrimination, or high pricing found in typical shopping centers.
Gender and Sexuality-Based Events
Our events explore gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexuality, and healthy relationships. Previous events we have hosted include:
- Stitch & Bitch (weekly hangout)
- LGBTQ+ Murder Mystery Night
- Crop-it Sis! DIY Crop Tops
- Queer & Trans POC Community Meet-up
- Trans Day of Rage Rally
- Queer Dungeons & Dragons Night
Our offerings change year to year and are primarily led by our student interns.
Additional Information
We hire three interns starting in the spring semester of each academic year, with applications opening in early February. Internships are limited to students receiving Federal Work Study through their financial aid package. Students are able to work approximately 11-14 hours per week at a rate of $19.18 (Fall 2025).
Internships are organized by community focus, and in prior years have included:
- Queer Love and Life Intern
- Queer & Trans POC (QT-POC) Community Intern
- Trans & Non-Binary+ Community Intern
- Queer Coalition Intern
- Gender Equity Intern
Academic Internships for the purpose of receiving course credit may potentially be available at the discretion of your academic advisor and Gender & Sexuality Center staff.

If you are interested in peer-to-peer support, our interns can be found at their office hours at the Gender & Sexuality Center, Monday through Friday when classes are in session.
