Since Apple introduced the iPad, there has been a lot of interest in education. There have been a number of studies in K-12 and higher education. Many colleges have distributed iPads to students in the classroom in order to assess all the possibilities of this new product, which will change the way we read, teach, and learn.
Mobile Learning Initiative at USF
USF's Mobile Learning Initiative (MLI) is a pilot program that is exploring the effectiveness of mobile technologies for teaching and learning. Four graduate programs, consisting of 90 students and 40 faculty, are participating in the initiative. Check out the details of the initiative here.

The number of cases that are available for the iPad is enormous and deciding which case is right for you can be daunting. The Wirecutter has put out a nice list of cases for all of the different versions of the iPad and iPad Mini.
Styling With a Stylus
Looking for a stylus for illustration, drawing diagrams or writing notes on your iPad? There are quite a few styluses available with varying degrees of functionality for drawing or writing. Prices can range from the cheap to the outrageous-The Wirecutter does a nice job reviewing a range of styli.
Keyboarding on the iPad
Typing on the digital keyboard on the iPad can be tough-especially for the touch typists. Fortunately there are a number of solutions available for those who need a "real" keyboard. Check out The Wirecutter's excellent article on keyboard keyboard folio cases.
Productivity suites for the iPad

Microsoft releases Office for the iPad
When Microsoft first released Office for the iPad, there was a catch-you could view for free but needed to subscribe to an Office365 account to create and edit documents. Check out Engadget’s initial review here. Recently Microsoft made some updates to their suite that makes much more accessible to everyone. Did You Know?
Packing the Dock
You can have more than 6 items in your iPad dock; if you have a good number of apps installed and would like to have dock access to say 20 items, create folders with the apps you want to be able to access from the dock. Then click and hold on the folder to enter the app edit mode where you can move or delete apps and folders. Drag the folder to the dock to finish.
Force quit an app?
Have you ever had an app that seemed to freeze like a program on your PC or Mac? You can actually force quit that app by double clicking on the Home button to access the mult-tasking bar and press and hold on the offending app. A red circle with a line appears; press on the red circle to force quit the app. For later versions of the IOS, double click on the home button to access the multitasking view and swipe upwards on the offending app to force quit it.
