Consultations

Consultation services are available to USF students, faculty, family members, roommates, friends, and staff when they have concerns about the psychological well-being of a USF student. USF students not residing in California or not currently enrolled in classes are able to consult with a CAPS therapist regarding mental health issues to get advice, resources, and referral information. The Dean of Students Office can also provide referrals for mental health services off campus. Contact CAPS at (415) 422-6352 during business hours and ask to speak to one of our therapists.

Unless there is an emergency, CAPS will not reach out to students to offer an appointment. However, the Office of the Dean of Students will reach out to students of concern and encourage them to make an appointment with their office and/or with CAPS, as appropriate.  Please alert the Dean of Students Office to students of concern.

Consultation Services for Veterans

Student veterans can get more information about mental health services and other veteran benefits through the Student Veteran Health Program, a part of Veterans Outreach.  If you would like to speak with someone in the Veterans Outreach Program, please email VHASFCVOP@va.gov or call 415-750-2190.

Consultations are available with a Veterans Administration (VA) representative. These consultations are available to USF students and provide:

  • Resources
  • Referrals
  • Help with health care enrollment
  • Assistance obtaining a VA ID card

Offered by CAPS in conjunction with the San Francisco VA Health Care System
