The equipment listed above may be borrowed from the Media Studies Equipment Desk in Cowell G09, on the ground level of Cowell Hall, directly across the hall from the Green Lab (Cowell G25).

During the winter and summer intersessions, equipment may only be borrowed by making an appointment with the Media Lab Director, Sheri Brenner: (415) 422-5868 | brenners@usfca.edu

The Media Studies Equipment Desk graciously manages our equipment loans. We respect and abide by all of their policies and procedures, including the duration of loans.

In addition, the Department of Art + Architecture recommends that you take these steps before walking away from the equipment desk with your freshly borrowed equipment:

  • Check Batteries: Be prepared to charge batteries, and/or provide your own AA or AAA batteries (if you've borrowed equipment requiring them) before you start shooting.
  • Check Inventory: Verify that all items are present in your kit, e.g. cables, batteries, chargers, media cards, etc.
  • Check Lens: If it needs cleaning, ask the equipment desk for assistance.

Individuals may reserve equipment for their own use, on a "first come, first served" basis, by contacting the Media Studies Equipment Desk:

Call: (415) 422-6949
E-Mail: medialab@usfca.edu
Visit: Cowell G09

If you're an instructor requiring students to reserve equipment as part of your course:

  1. Devise and deliver a tutorial to the students who will be borrowing it. The Media Studies Equipment Desk staff cannot answer questions about how to use A+A equipment.
  2. Introduce the information, policies, and procedures on this webpage to the students who will be borrowing the equipment.
  3. Be specific with your students about which equipment you're requiring them to borrow. Consult the inventory list above. The Media Studies Equipment Desk staff cannot answer questions about the specifications and capabilities of A+A equipment.
  4. Instruct your students to reserve equipment through the Media Studies Equipment Desk at least one week prior to the date they will borrow it.

All USF students, faculty, and staff may borrow cameras, camcorders, audio recorders, microphones, and headsets from Educational Technology Services or "ETS" for short. Special requests can also be made to reserve iPads and iClickers. Contact ETS at (415) 422-2223 or ets@usfca.edu to place a reservation. ETS lab monitors are available to assist you during ETS operating hours, Monday through Saturday. ETS staff members are also available by appointment for training and consultation. Visit the ETS webpage for more information.

A+A faculty and staff may also borrow the equipment below (which is not available to students). Contact the Director of A+A Technology to make arrangements:
