Student Financial Assistance Programs Administered by Student Life
Student Life administers several funds designed to assist students in need beyond what is offered through Financial Aid scholarship awards. Refer to summary of each fund below including links to more information if applicable.

Summary
Emergency funds are available to USF undergraduate and graduate students who are unable to meet immediate, essential expenses due to a temporary hardship related to an emergency situation that may jeopardize their health, safety, and/or academic performance. Funds may be granted to students to help alleviate financial hardships that are brought on by these circumstances. The limit for funding is a maximum of $599.99 per student.
Eligibility requirEments
- The applicant must be currently enrolled in the term of request (undergraduate or graduate) at the University of San Francisco and have a temporary financial hardship resulting from an emergency situation.
- Other possible resources such as financial aid through USF or federal means must have been considered and determined to be not available or insufficient.
- Applicant must be able to provide sufficient evidence or documentation of financial hardship.

The Black Achievement Success and Engagement (BASE) Economic Hardship Fund is available to USF undergraduate and graduate students who are unable to meet immediate, essential expenses due to a temporary financial hardship that may jeopardize their health, safety, academic performance, and/or ability to stay enrolled at USF. Funds may be used for such necessities as rent, tuition, transportation home, etc. This fund is for one-time use only. These funds are not intended to be used for routine expenses nor as a consistent supplement to fund the student's education. Funds cannot be used for any other unintended use besides the item(s) requested. If approved, all funds must be utilized in the manner originally agreed upon by the applicant and the review committee. Note: This fund has limited funds, but applications are still being accepted.

Summary
The creation of the Magis Fellowship for undergraduate students was a student-led initiative lead by the campus' M.E.Ch.A. club (now known as L.U.N.A.). Previously funded by the Associated Student of the University of San Francisco (ASUSF) Senate for 3 years (2017 to 2020, the Magis Fellowship provides an opportunity for undergraduate students and the larger undocumented community.
Beginning Fall 2020, President Fitzgerald committed to providing funding for the fellowship for an additional 3 years. Additionally beginning Fall 2021, the fellowship is now available to USF graduate students.
Fellowship grants are awarded based on the scope of the proposed project (not to exceed $8,000 per student per academic year).
Eligibility requirements
- Applicants must be a USF student (graduate or undergraduate)
- The applicant must be in good academic standing.
- The applicant must be able to develop innovative projects which address specific barriers and challenges faced by the undocumented community.

Summary
The Student Laptop Program is available to USF degree-seeking students who do not have the financial means to purchase (or replace) computer to support their academic performance. This program is strictly need-based with a limited supply of Mac and/or PC computers available for donation, at not cost to the student. Computers may be granted to students with verifiable financial hardships. All computers donated are intended to support the student's academic performance and completion of class assignments. The program limit is set as a once-per-lifetime computer donation per student. Students who receive a computer are encouraged to work with ITS to maintain it in order to increase the machine's longevity.

- The applicant must be currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program in the term of request at the University of San Francisco and have financial hardship.
- Other possible resources such as financial aid through USF or federal means must have been considered and determined to be not available or insufficient.
- The applicant must be able to provide sufficient evidence or documentation of financial hardship.
- The applicant must be in good academic standing. Past or current conduct cases will also be taken into consideration.
