Tuition Increase 

  • Over 200 students were in attendance. Faculty, Staff, and Administration were also in attendance.
  • The guest speakers for this event were Jeff Hamrick, Vice Provost for Institutional Budge and Planning & Analytics, and Micheal Beseda, Vice Provost for Strategic Enrollment Management. 
  • President Father Paul Fitzgerald and Provost Don Heller were also in attendance. 
  • Some of the reasons tuition will increase in the 2020-2021 academic year are as follows:
    • Compensation increases for staff. 
      • Approximately +$2.6 million in wages
      • Approximately +$1.0 million in benefits
      • On average, by about +3.0%
    • Compensation increases for faculty. 
      • Approximately +$4.0 million in wages
      • Approximately +$1.5 million in benefits
      • On average, by about +4.8%
    • Increased financial aid
      • By approximately +$4.0 million. 
    • Various contractual/ non - discretionary expenses will increase. 
      • Related to information technology: +$600,000
      • Related to facilities contracts: +$540,000
      • Related to library subscriptions/services: +$170,000
      • Other: +$200,000
    • Increased budget to cover unforeseen contingencies. 
      • Possibly up to +$1.0 million

Other Updates

  • Father Paul Fitzgerald agreed to fund the Magis Fellowship originally established as a pilot program by ASUSF Senate at $20,000 per year in support of undocumented undergraduate students in our community. 
  • Father Paul Fitzgerald will be reviewing a proposal to provide further support to the Black Achievement Success and Engagement (BASE) program.
